Anne Walton Herston Mathis
Welcome! I am so glad you are here! My name is Anne Walton Herston Mathis. I’m a people-centered professional with a doctorate in occupational therapy and a background in exercise science, creativity, and leadership. My strengths include empathy, clear thinking, and turning complex ideas into thoughtful, human-centered solutions.

About

Purpose‑driven, curious, and kind
I hold a Doctorate in Occupational Therapy from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of North Alabama. My Clifton Strengths are: Developer, Ideation, Futuristic, Connectedness, and Empathy. I lead with encouragement and care about craft and results. I see improvements, talents, and abilities in others and am energized by helping others see their unique abilities. I am innovative and am not afraid of the work it takes to implement innovative solutions. I am future oriented. I see big picture, goals, and aspirations. I love people. I like to learn from others, listen, and build relationships. I am empathetic. If “walking a mile in the other person’s shoes” was required every time we empathize with another person I would wear 100s of shoes and have a much higher step count each day. I have a deep understanding of the human condition and am not afraid of meeting people where they are.
